Also found a blown bulb in the high-level unit, took longer to replace the high level cover with those fiddly screws than it did to fit the switch and check circuits. I found the brake light switch, removed and cleaned the contacts, tightened the spring and replaced but still the brake lights and back lights not working! I found this post via a google search and I just thought I'd post an image for anyone else who is having similar issues with their brake lights.
