The way those taillights work theres a white wire under dash on the column that white wire is for brake light. I did notice when my blinker is on (headlights turned off)when I hit my break my dash lights for my "heat and cool" flash with my blinker. If the light is still dead, your bulb is dead , the contact is corroded , or is misaligned. If the bulb doesn't light, the bulb is bad, the socket isn't making contact, or the ground is bad. I did check the bulbs, replaced them and still not working. Remove and replace the bulb (If you have a VOM, you can test the bulb now.) It may be necessary to remove the whole light assembly to check the socket condition. Saved myself $700 the Ford dealership wanted to fix it. They work fine until I turn on my headlights.
