Thanks for reporting back. Probably happened in the cold of winter when I replaced the battery which was exactly the same time I noticed the mode selector was not working. I think the windshield washer power was also included with that problem but no problems now. Could it be the PCM or an actuator (which one?) Maybe the ignition switch? I think the steering column would have to be disassembled to replace the tumbler and that looks like a chore to me. useful reference And there's another fuse connected directly to battery.
The problem is that when I turn my car on the controller usually comes up completely blank except the 4 red lights on the passenger side climate control. D -- Empty. The voltage drop is either across the ignition switch contact used or a component loading the circuit down. I have had the car almost four years. Sometimes the blower speed is erratic. Fuses, there probably is more than one.
These boards are available at Advance Auto and other parts suppliers and gmpartdirect.com and rockauto.com. After the car runs for a long enough period of time, residual heat will come out of the vents but without the blower running.
